Cassette Wallets

as some of you may know i gave a bunch of cassette wallets as christmas presents for my cousins. i managed to make a few more with another slew on the way and am selling them here: frugalartist.etsy.com
a store in Barcelona is interested in buying them :) if i do decide to sell them there it would be for the mere fact to say "i sell my work in Barcelona". so i'll ponder it and see if i can squeeze in extra time to make these suckers.

i did say i would post a step by step tutorial on how to make these wallets but it was just to hard to explain. i did however find this site that has a similar set of instructions here

THE DEAD HAVE RISEN

i'm not even gonna go there (refer back to previous blog) my life is complete chaos! i know lame excuse but true. the worst part of it is i talk about blogging all the time and how awful i feel for not having done so and this and that. it's this long vicious cycle when all i need to do is blog already!
i've been editing photos day and night for my site which is so lovely! i can't wait to get it up already. i'm aiming for Feb 16th. fingers crossed. i've also been collaborating with my lovely Ghassan for our upcoming shoot that is going to be the most ferocious shoot ever! here's us playing with ideas:

here's a lovely painting my girl Fly Lady did for me. isn't it erie? so Tim Burton. i LOVE it! thanks girl!

i just can't help myself...I'M SOOOOOO SORRRYYYY!!!!!! Special thanks to all the naggers out there

2009 UPDATES

i'm cruel, i'm awful, i'm evil, i'm uber UBER sorry that i haven't posted anything new. i'm still here in Toronto getting my photography in check. another year, another website and my talented brother jeedub is helping me build my template site. i can't believe i didn't do template sites sooner, but better late than never. if you know flash and want to showcase images you should download the application SlideShowPro. The site is ready to go, all you do is add images, customize color, size, and buttons and the best part is you can update it yourself in a matter of minutes. so yeah, my site probably won't be up till i get back to Vancouver but i'm looking forward to having regular updates.
as of recently i've been brainstorming a shoot that will be showcased in Toronto's Fashion Week. i along with 14 other female photographers will be head lining an event entitled "Women by Women". i'm super amped about the shoot and will be reuniting with my friend and makeup artist Sherlyn Torres. can't wait to shoot!
itching to go home but enjoying my stay.
i'm tired...gonna take a nap before i have a night on the town with FlyLady...
not a fan of blogging without images so here's a photo from my shoot with model Tiera:

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

i know i said i'd blog a step-by-step entry today but i wanna find a really good glue i can recommend before ya'll go making wallets that fall apart as soon as you open them. in the mean time, here are some photos of my fams and our christmas gathering. i'm sure we weren't the only party with ugly sweaters. can you believe vintage stores were sold out of the christmas sweaters and those that weren't were charging $40 for a USED UGLY sweater?!

creative christmas

this year was all about conservation and creativity. i have 7 close cousins and a budget so i took to the internet for ideas for handmade gifts. i came across designer marcella foschi at design boom who took cassette tapes and revamped them into wallets. so of course me and my thrifty self knocked the idea. i did make a couple modifications such as bigger zippers and mismatched zipper heads. and since i personalized them i looked for cassette tapes specific for each cousin. i'll post a step by step this sunday. aren't they delicious?

i used different coloured zipper heads

this was for my lovely cousin Jeigh who appreciates the meaning of 'Flash Dance'

this was such a perfect find for my man 'Sexy Eyes' and only for you Boo Boo :)

stylin and profilin

what do you do when you feel you have nothing to blog about? when i got back home to Vancouver i had no idea what to do with myself. i was still in vacation mode, which is not cool when your vacation is over. i haven't shot a fashion shoot in a minute so me and my lovely Ghassan went back in the lab and shot this weekend. i love fashion and all but i prefer to stick to photography. however, living in Vancouver, BC and wanting to produce images you see in NY, London, Paris and the like, requires an eye which i can't seem to find out here. SO, i have been styling the last few shoots which have been quite the 'learning curve'. here's a sneak peek:

photography by me
makeup/hair by Ghassan
dress provided by Bohemian Gallery (you guys are THE BEST)
shoes provided by me from ALDO (circa 2006)
bow handmade by me
